Description - What to expect

Enjoy an unforgettable Tromsø Snowmobiling safari through magical snow-covered mountains, dramatic landscapes, and scenic valleys. Learn to drive “the scooter of the north” in a snowy wilderness playground.

Experience the spectacular fun at our wilderness center, Camp Tamok. For this tour, you will be picked up from the city center in Tromsø, from where you will be taken to Camp Tamok, a 90-minute scenic bus drive away.

Upon arrival at Camp Tamok, you will be warmly greeted by your guide and outfitted with all the necessary gear and clothing, including thermal suit, boots, gloves and helmet. Our expert guides will provide thorough safety instructions on how to drive a snowmobile, ensuring everyone feels confident and safe before heading out on the tour.

Follow your tour guide and navigate along snowy trails, passing snow-covered mountains, valleys, frozen rivers, and lakes.

You will share a snowmobile with another person, taking turns as the driver and passenger. Halfway through the tour, we’ll have a short break where you'll swap places, ensuring both of you have the chance to drive the snowmobile.

After the tour, you will return to the camp, where a warm meal awaits in one of our traditional lavvus (indigenous Sámi tent). With food and drinks served, gathered around the open fire, you will get the chance to relax and share stories of your recent adventures!

During peak season, we might split the group to avoid large groups. Half of the group will start with a warm meal in the lavvu before heading out on their snowmobile tour.

With everyone returned to the camp, it's time to board the bus and return to Tromsø

Good to know - practical information

◾Participating in a snowmobiling tour typically requires a moderate level of physical fitness. You should be able to sit comfortably for extended periods and have sufficient strength and coordination to operate the snowmobile controls
◾The duration of the snowmobiling activity (the time you will spend on the tracks, driving the snowmobile) can differ day to day, depending on snow and weather conditions.
◾Due to the dramatic topography, a reduced speed is maintained during some parts of the tour.
◾ You must be at least 18 years old and have a driving license to drive the snowmobile
◾ You must be at least 7 years old to be a passenger
◾ The minimum height for the driver and passenger is 130 cm
◾You will be served traditional Norwegian soup/stew (vegetables with meat or fish) including bread, coffee, tea and water. Please advise us during your booking of any food allergies or dietary restrictions. If no notice is given in advance, an extra fee of 150 NOK will be charged
◾You should be prepared for outdoor weather conditions which can be harsh and unpredictable during Arctic winter. Temperatures often drop below freezing, with averages ranging from -10°C to -20°C.
