Description - What to expect
Nepal Trekking - Poon Hill Trek Itinerary◾ Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu (1300m/4265ft)
Arrive at Kathmandu International Airport where you will be warmly welcomed by your host tour operator and then drive to the city to check in to your hotel. The rest of the day is free to explore this historic and vibrant city. Meals: Welcome dinner
◾ Day 2: Fly to Pokhara (884m/2900ft), Drive to Nayapul (1070m/3510ft), Trek to Tikhedhunga (1540m/5053ft)
After morning breakfast in the hotel, your Nepal trekking tour starts with a 25-minute flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara. In Pokhara, visit the deep, narrow gorge of roaring Seti River and then drive to Davi’s Falls and further to Gupteswar Cave and the Bat Cave. Laze by the Phewa Lake and take a leisurely row on its sparkling waters.
Drive 25 miles to Nayapul for the start of the trek. A steep trail from Nayapul directs trekkers down to a bridge over a small stream to get to Birethanti, a large and prosperous village. From Birethanti, take the left branch of the trail on the west side of the bridge at the ACAB post, where you'll need to show your ACAP permit and TIMS Card.
Following the trail through the main streets of Birethanti, winding through bamboo forests and past a large waterfall and swimming hole, reach Sudami beyond a pasture used by caravans. Climb steadily up the side of the valley to reach Hille, and about 15 minutes above Hille is the Tikhedhunga. Meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner.
◾ Day 3: Trek to Ghorepani (2750m/9023ft)
This is a 4-6 hours trek that starts by crossing the Tikhedhunga Khola on a suspension bridge, then drops and crosses the Bhurungdi Khola on a large bridge at 1520m. The trail climbs very steeply on a stone staircase that is said to have more than 3300 steps which continues to the large Magar village of Ulleri (2080m). Then continue climbing gently through the pastures and cultivated fields making your way to deep forests to reach a hamlet of Banthanti.
Crossing the magnificent oak and rhododendron forests the trail passes through two sparkling clear streams, a small ridge, and another stream before making a final climb to another Magar village of Nangathanti (2460m). About an hour past this village you will reach Ghorepani. Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner
◾ Day 4: Trek to Poon Hill (3210m/10532ft), Trek to Nayapul 3-4 hours, 1000m descent, drive to Pokhara
After about an hour climb in the morning, reach Poon Hill, which is a viewpoint for the spectacular Himalayan panorama extending from Dhaulagiri to Annapurna to Machhapuchhre, stretching from Dhaulagiri I and Tukuche to Nilgiri, Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Hiunchuli, and Tarke Kang.
Take the main trail that leads south dropping at first on a staircase, and then traversing high above the river on a stone-paved trail. Cross a stream at Chane (5,540 feet) and continue to Kimche (5,380 feet) and follow the ridge downhill to join the Modi Khola at Syauli bazaar (3,740 feet).
From there on, the walking is flat. Follow the river valley through a lovely birch forest and rice terraces before reaching Birethanti. Walk 30 minutes on a rough and rocky road to get to Nayapul, from where you'll drive back to Pokhara. Meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner.
◾ Day 5: Fly back to Kathmandu, Fly back home
Take a last memorable look at the Annapurna ranges and take a flight back to Kathmandu. Meals: breakfast.

◾ Autumn (September to November) and Spring (March to May) are the best seasons for Nepal trekking - Poon Hill trek. The weather is sunny and warm with outstanding views. If you wish to avoid crowds and enjoy some time alone with nature, then taking this trip during winter (December, January, and February) could also be an option. However, the temperatures during winter could be harsh, while during the Summer or Monsoon seasons (June to August) you can expect lots of rain.◾ Your safety is of paramount importance and your host has the authority to cancel the trip or change the itinerary, when deemed necessary or when there is reason to believe your safety is at stake. Weather conditions, the health condition of a group member, natural disasters, and such, can contribute to changes in the itinerary when traveling in remote mountainous regions.
◾ Passport & Nepal visas
All clients must have a valid passport with at least six months validity from the return date. A Nepalese visa can be obtained from the Nepalese Embassies or Consulate in your country or on arrival at Kathmandu Airport. Nepalese visas cost is the personal responsibility of clients.
