Description - What to expect
Upon arrival at the wilderness center of Camp Tamok, get fitted with all the warm clothes and boots provided and choose which activity you prefer to start off your day.Daytime Activity: Depending on your choice of activity you will head out on a dog sledding, snowmobiling, or reindeer sledding tour, followed by the time to relax and warm up with a hot meal in one of our lavvus (indigenous Sámi tent).
Camp Stay: During this time, you will have the chance to explore Camp Tamok by yourself. Explore the beautiful surroundings, spend time at the dog yard, relax by the campfire inside the lavvu (read a book, play a game, socialize with others) or gather around the campfire outside.
Tromsø Ice Domes Snow Park (available from the 10th of December): Discover the magic of the snow and ice sculptures inside the Snow Park! Wander around by yourself through a mesmerizing display of snow and ice sculptures, and a snow maze, and explore our two domes. Marvel at the amazing art coming to life with light in its natural surroundings of pristine nature and peaceful Arctic landscapes.
At 17:00 we will grill sausages on the open fire at the camp. The camp host will inform you of where to meet up for your evening activity.
Evening Activity: Depending on your choice of activity, you will head out on a snowmobiling a reindeer sledding tour, or join the northern lights visit. After your evening activity, you will return to the camp, where a warm meal awaits in one of our lavvus (indigenous Sámi tent). Once again, with food and drinks served, gathered around the open fire, you will get the chance to relax and share stories of your recent adventures.
After dinner, it is time to board the bus and return to Tromsø, taking with you great memories of your day in the Arctic wilderness!
Please note that during this Tromso activities tour you have the option of combining two different activities that better suit your interests. Let us know during the booking which combination you prefer. In case the combination of activities you are requesting is not available the supplier will suggest you another combination.

The camp’s large lavvu and main cabin are where the hot meals are served after your activitiesCamp Tamok is located in an area with optimal conditions for experiencing the Northern Lights. Although Camp Tamok is located only a 90-minute drive from downtown Tromsø, it is in a different and drier climate zone, with clear inland mountain weather. The dry climate generates many cloud-free night skies in winter, as well as during summer
Good to know - practical information
◾ For this Tromso activities tour please wear warm winter clothing and in layers so you can adjust your clothing to the weather. We recommend bringing a scarf in cold weather◾ The minimum height of participants required for the snowmobiling tour is 130 cm
Snowmobiling:
◾You need to be a minimum of 18 years old and hold a valid driver's license to operate a snowmobile. Passengers need to be a minimum of 7 years old. Available from the 10th of December
◾Advanced Dog Sledding: Minimum age: 16 y/o, Recommended maximum age: 65 y/o, Pregnant people are not allowed to participate in this tour. Weight limit: 120kg. Available from the 1st of December
◾Dietary Requirements: Please inform us of any food allergies or dietary restrictions upon booking. If no notice is given in advance, an extra fee of 150 NOK will be charged.
◾Advanced Dog Sledding: Our guides are entitled to deny drivers and passengers to join this tour for health and safety reasons. The tour requires strength and fitness from all our guests, and a good physical condition is necessary to participate. Some parts of the trail can be covered with a fresh layer of snow or go uphill which means in both cases you will have to help the dogs to push the sled.
◾Snowmobiling & Reindeer Sledding Evening: These tours are not focused on chasing the Northern Lights, but they offer a great chance to witness this natural phenomenon.
