Overview

Embark on a captivating Tromso Reindeer sledding tour to the Tamok Valley, just outside of Tromsø, and immerse yourself in the traditional way of life of the Sámi people. Begin your adventure by meeting the reindeer and their herders, where you'll have the chance to hand-feed the majestic animals and learn about their vital role in Sámi culture. Next, climb aboard a traditional reindeer sled and experience the thrill of gliding across the snow-covered landscape, surrounded by the breathtaking Arctic scenery.

Description - What to expect

Your Tromso Reindeer sledding experience starts with a pick-up at Samuel Arnesens gate 7, and then a 90-minute relaxing bus journey, you will enter the remote area of Tamokdalen where our wilderness camp is located.

Upon arrival at Camp Tamok, you will be warmly greeted by your guide and outfitted with the essential gear including thermal suits, boots, and gloves, ensuring comfort and warmth for the day ahead. As our reindeer herd is some distance from the dog yard, this activity will start with a short transfer by minibus. This cultural adventure includes a short reindeer sledding tour, storytelling about the fascinating Sami culture and feeding of the reindeer. There are about 5-6 reindeer in the camp.

After your encounter with the reindeer, you will return to Camp Tamok, where a warm meal awaits in one of our traditional lavvus (indigenous Sámi tents). With food and drinks served, and gathered around the open fire, you will get the chance to warm up, relax, and exchange experiences and stories with your fellow adventurers.

After the meal, it is time to board the bus and return to Tromsø, taking with you great memories of this Tromso reindeer sledding and Sami culture experience.

After the tour, we will serve a complimentary traditional Norwegian soup/stew. The main ingredients are vegetables with meat or fish. We serve bread, coffee, tea and water with the meal.

Dietary requirements
Vegetarian food can be provided if notice is given upon booking. Please advise us in advance of any food allergies or dietary restrictions: we will provide an alternative option. If no notice is given in advance an extra fee of 150 NOK will be charged.
