Description - What to expect

You will start our religious and heritage hiking tour from the monastery of Holy Trinity (Agia Triada), a 17th-century old religious landmark. Founded in 1612, the Holy Trinity monastery is unusually beautiful, situated on the edge of a fertile plain, full of vineyards and olive groves.
Hike along until you reach Gouverneto monastery, another impressive 16th-century-old building with a beautiful church in its center. Dated in 1537 the monastery is a Venetian-style fortress and It is reputed to be one of the oldest monasteries in Crete. You will have the opportunity to view the raki distillery and wine bottling plant, as well as the wine cellar, and buy products made by the monastery.
Continue your hiking tour following down a paved trail that will take you to the ruins of the abandoned 11th-century monastery of Katholiko. On the way, you will make a stop at the so-called "the Bear Cave", or Cave of Arkoudiotissa, a vast chamber with a large stalagmite in the shape of a bear. The monastery building spans a small gorge with a great stone bridge.
At this stage, although you are only a few km away from the main city of Chania, you have the feeling that in reality, we are far away in place and time. It's a magical feeling! you cover the last part of your hiking adventure through a shaded gorge until you finally reach the village of Stavros with its amazing sandy cove where some scenes of “Zorba the Greek” were filmed. At this picturesque little village, you can swim and have lunch in one of the traditional taverna
